On behalf of Nokia and Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology (TNList), I am honoured to invite you to the Nokia-Tsinghua Academia Summit, which will be held in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, on Dec. 18, 2006.

    To continue the success of the first Nokia China Academia Summit 2005, Nokia and TNList come together to the Nokia-Tsinghua Academia Summit 2006 with the theme of "Open Innovation in Emerging Market". Sponsored by Nokia, the summit will provide an open forum for researchers, scholars and engineers from different areas of expertise, where all participants can not only present their up-to-date work and rich experience, but also share their innovative ideas and visions for future communications. In this summit, we will expect to have 100 professors and experts from Nokia, Tsinghua University, and other top universities from China and Finland, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, etc.

    In 2006 Nokia Research Center (NRC) is celebrating twenty years of innovation in Nokia. Interacting closely with all Nokia business groups, the research center supports Nokia's evolving core businesses by providing expertise in strategically important areas, developing new concepts, technologies and applications, and developing disruptive technologies beyond the current product horizon. Since its establishment in 1998, NRC China has been focusing on long-term research, open innovations, and knowledge transfer through intensive involvement and interaction with universities, institutes, and vendors. With highly educated staff, NRC China has made remarkable achievements and established wide collaboration with research community in APAC area.

    TNList is one of the five national laboratories approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2003, and the only national laboratory in IST areas. The goal of TNList is to build up a world-class research laboratory, with an important mission to integrate the three state key labs and the two key labs of the Ministry of Education in information area.
