Biography

Tapani Ristaniemi
Professor, Jyvaskyla University

    Tapani Ristaniemi, born in 1971, received his M.Sc. in mathematics in 1995, Ph.Lic. in applied mathematics in 1997, and Ph.D. in telecommunications in 2000 from the University of Jyvaskyla, Jyvaskyla, Finland. During 2001-2003 he was a professor of telecommunications at the Department of Mathematical Information Technology, University of Jyvaskyla, and 2003-2006 a professor of wireless data communications in the Institute of Communications Engineering, Tampere University of Technology, Finland. In 2006 he joined the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, where he is professor of computer science. He is the vice dean of the Faculty of Information Technology of Jyvaskyla University, and a docent of wireless data communications at Tampere University of Technology. His research interests include signal processing for communications, radio resource management and network planning for wireless networks.
