Kongqiao Wang received his M.Sc. in 1996 and his Ph.D. in 1999 in signal and information processing from Hefei University of Technology and University of Science and Technology of China respectively. During his Ph.D. study, he actively contributed to a national 863 funded project in the research topics of image coding and human face detection.
Kongqiao joined Nokia Research Center (NRC), China in December 1999. From 1999 till now, he participated in and managing quite a lot of projects relating to user interface enabling technologies based on image analysis and pattern recognition, for example, optical character recognition, human face detection, barcode reading, and etc. In 2005, his project team successfully transferred business card reader to N90 via Nokia Multimedia Business Unit, China. In 2006, he was nominated as a working package manager of a big Nokia research program for interactive methods and techniques. He was appointed as Research Manager to lead Asian User Interface Technologies group of NRC China as of September 2001. In October 2006, he was appointed as the research team leader of Viusal Interaction Systems in Beijing Systems Research Center, NRC. His research focus is interaction by using image analysis and pattern recognition. He has achieved one granted patent and more than 20 pending patents, and authored/co-authored four book chapters and more than 20 conference and journal papers.
