Dr. Jian Ma joined Nokia Research Center in 1994 in Finland, and relocated in Beijing to set up research group(s) of Nokia Research Center Beijing in 1999. Since 2003 he started to take individual role as Principal Scientist in charge of university cooperation and technology exploration in China and other APACs. He is also guest professor in Computer Science in BUPT from 2002, ICT-CAS from 2003, and CCCE-GUCAS from 2006, and now supervising a docent PhD and MsC candidates.
He has held 11 patents granted and tens of patent applications, and published 130 international publications, two science and technology books, and two book chapters. His current research interests are mobile enabled wireless sensor networks (mWSN), grid services, converged services and solutions of wireless network and broadcasting network, new applications and services in digital broadcasting, Ad-hoc networking and p2p networking, and etc. He received his B.Sc. and MS.C respectively in 1982 and 1987 from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and his Ph.D. in 1994 from the Department of Electronics Engineering in Helsinki University of Technology.
