invited speakersShigeru AzuhataDr. Azuhata joined Hitachi in 1975 after completing his M.Eng. in Mechanics at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan; working on technologies for thermal power stations at the Hitachi Research Laboratory. He transferred to the business side of Hitachi, working on engineering design of gas turbine combustors in the Power & Industrial Systems Group, a major business group of Hitachi. After serving as the CTO of the Power & Industrial Systems Group, he returned to the Research and Development Group in April 2005 to serve as the General Manager of the Hitachi Research Laboratory which is involved in R&D in public systems, devices, components and materials. In January 2008, he became the head of the Environmental Strategy Office of Hitachi, Ltd., and assumed his current position as head of the Research & Development Group in April 2009. Hitachi R&D Strategy - Fusion of IT and Social Infrastructure Technologies -The role of IT technologies has great impact on our social. IT technologies not only contribute to IT industry but also are the important technologies to decrease CO2 and solve environmental problems. Hitachi Group business covers the wide range including Information/ Telecommunication and Power/Industries. Hitachi is one of very few companies that can realize ˇ°Fusionˇ± business.
